Ultralight Discovery Flights in Southern Ontario
A Discovery Flight, often called an Introductory Flight is an opportunity where you can experience the excitement of flight either by enjoying the aerial views from above and/or participating in basic hands on flight instruction.
A Discovery Flight is considered a “Training Flight” by Transport Canada and the flight time can be applied towards your ultralight permit rating if you wish to continue with lessons.
Included in your Discovery Flight is a video of your flight experience which is recorded on the GoPro In-Flight Camera.
How Does the Discovery Flight Work?
- During a typical first flight, prior to the actual flight, you will be briefed for approximately 20 minutes on the following: the route to be flown, the aircraft involved (walkaround), the weather, and flying conditions. Also, we will conduct a preflight safety briefing which includes how to operate the aircraft doors and seat belts. Upon completion of the Discovery Flight, you will have the opportunity to debrief your flight experience and answer any questions.
- A headset will be provided for you to use. They are comfortable and they allow you to communicate with the instructor pilot.
- You will have the opportunity to fly the aircraft independently, with the instructor coaching you from the right seat. Once in the air, your flight instructor will demonstrate how to perform basic turns, climbs, and descents. As soon as you feel comfortable enough, you can choose to handle the aircraft’s controls while at the same time enjoying the wonderful view.
